Hosted by Wellington City Council and the Urban Design Forum the program theme for 2018 is ‘Joining the Dots’. The aim of the conference is to shape New Zealand’s cities and places by identifying the key issues, thereby making the connection to bring about change.
Along with a raft of industry experts, thought leaders and pundits, three Boffa Miskell consultants will be presenting at the event.
Urban designer Tim Church, from our Christchurch office will be joining Debbie Tiako from Matapopore Chritable Trust to discuss “The Business of Embedding Cultural Identity”. Boffa Miskell and Matapopore have worked together on several landmark projects as part of the Christchurch rebuild, including the recently opened Victoria Square.
Boffa Miskell consultants have been working with regional councils to proactively address the shifting needs of their changing communities. Urban planner Marc Baily, from our Wellington office will discuss the challenges and opportunities that our regional centres are addressing in “NZ’s Smaller Towns – Facing Up to the Perfect Storm.”
Auckland-based urban designer Stuart Houghton and George Weeks, Specialist Urban Designer with Auckland Council, have a poster presentation of “Valuing the Urban Realm: Testing Transport for London’s Valuing Urban Real Toolkit in Auckland.”
The conference takes place on 14 – 15 May in Wellington.
