Bringing together public transport and public space goals for Auckland’s city centre
Bringing together the vision of the City Centre Masterplan and the New Network for Auckland’s buses while maintaining appropriate access and capacity for general traffic will lead to a transformation of the Auckland city centre over the next decade. There was a strong need to resolve the complex and competing demands for space in the city centre.
Aurecon and Boffa Miskell were engaged by Auckland Transport to deliver an integrated strategic direction for Auckland’s transport and public spaces.
The study involved collaboration and consultation with a wide range of stakeholders from Auckland Transport, Auckland Council, Waterfront Auckland and the NZ Transport Agency. A bold direction was desired, which involved rigorous technical analysis, evaluation, compelling communication and visualisation.
Boffa Miskell urban designers and landscape architects brought a holistic view to the project, considering the surrounding built environment and land use issues which helped stakeholders adopt the project recommendations.
