The Eastern Busway from Pakūranga to Botany is a significant infrastructure project for East Auckland. When it’s completed, the busway and Rā Hihi (flyover) above Reeves Road will provide connections and sustainable travel options for walkers, cyclists, motorists, bus and train customers. It will also create bus and train service between Botany and Waitematā Station (Britomart) and will be an important part of the region’s rapid transport network.
Eastern Busway is being designed from Preliminary Detailed Design through to Issued for Construction at the same time as the technical assessments are being undertaken and the planning application (AEE) is lodged with Council and evidence presented at hearings. Boffa Miskell developed an Urban and Landscape Design Framework (ULDF) to inform the design throughout this process.
Boffa Miskell provided technical expertise in urban design, landscape, marine and coastal ecology. This included undertaking technical assessments of effects, presenting evidence at hearings and input to the project design.
The Eastern Busway is a very large and complex infrastructure project. The Alliance includes constructors as well as designers and a wide variety of technical experts. Effective communication and collaboration is the key to success, and the is designed in BIM and uses a Federated model to incorporate all design aspects of the project and identify any potential clashes.
