Hamish has a broad and thorough working knowledge of planning under the RMA, and its practical application to development and infrastructure proposals and the resolution of urban and rural planning issues. Prior to joining Boffa Miskell in 2004, Hamish worked in the local authority sector, obtaining an excellent grounding in a broad range of land development, subdivision and infrastructure matters.
With considerable experience in the preparation, administration and review of District Plans, both as a policy planner and as a regulatory planner, he has prepared and processed a number of District Plan changes for city and district councils. Topics include rural land use and subdivision, mixed use environments and development, commercial development and natural hazards. Hamish’s work in consent planning, including the project managing and preparing documents to obtain and process resource consents and designations. Types of projects include electricity transmission, airport facilities, residential and commercial development, water permits and education facilities.
