KAIMĀTAI HAUROPI | Ecologist
Kaiwhiri | Associate Principal

As an experienced aquatic ecologist, I enjoy working within both freshwater and marine environments across Aotearoa. I have provided ecological advice across a broad range of sectors including projects for land development, major roading infrastructure, mining and quarrying, and for local and regional government. These include leading single-discipline ecological assessments and being part of large multi-disciplinary projects.

I enjoy working collaboratively with other experts on projects where ecological advice is sought early on and informs the project design. This facilitates more practical solutions and better ecological outcomes.

I particularly like the hands-on nature of ecological data collection and enjoy leading teams to collect thorough and robust ecological data that forms the basis for sound assessments and advice. Getting out onto project sites and into nature only fuels my belief that we have a responsibility to use our knowledge to protect and enhance our natural environment, to ensure its sustainable future.
