Four landscape architects achieve NZILA registration

The New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects Tuia Pito Ora (NZILA) has announced those graduate members who successfully passed the 2020 NZILA Registration interview and are now Registered Members of the Institute.

Landscape architects from Boffa Miskell’s Auckland office are among the successful registrants.

Aynsley Cisaria joined Boffa Miskell in 2016, having been the highest-awarded student in her final year of study at Unitec.

Aynsley’s passion for children’s outdoor play and environmental education inspired her decision to retrain as a landscape architect following a successful career in both tertiary and early childhood education. Since joining Boffa Miskell, Aynsley has been involved in projects of varying scale, with a particular focus on open space and recreation, playspaces, kindergartens and planting design. To formalise her previous experience in community liaison and workshop facilitation, Aynsley gained the IAP2 ‘Certificate in Engagement’ in 2017.

Katherine Eastman joined Boffa Miskell in 2017 after working as a Landscape Architect in Austin, Texas. During that time, she developed an expertise in complex spaces and infrastructure in the public realm. Her experience includes public realm projects, urban streetscapes, mixed-use developments, parks and plazas.

Katherine’s design skills range from conceptual master-planning and representation through to construction documentation and administration; and she is currently designing and overseeing the construction of a host of projects in and around Auckland. Her interests lie heavily in the delivery of high-quality public realm spaces that make a positive contribution to people’s lives. Katherine was a member of Team Tenax, whose Whiria design was a finalist in the NZILA Auckland Branch’s inaugural Nohonga Design Competition.

Erin Diao joined Boffa Miskell in early 2019 after working at a Christchurch-based company for about four years. Her experience includes landscape design, urban design, and landscape planning in New Zealand, Middle East and Asia.

Erin is particularly interested in seeking the balance between human interventions and the surrounding landscape, as well as exploring cultural connections to places. She has developed an extensive set of skills which enable her to bring a design from concept through to ground implementation. Most recently, Erin was involved with the [Junior School Playspace at Diocesan School for Girls]; and was a member of Team Tenax at the Nohonga Design Competition.
