Active transport modes provide vital link between residential suburbs and central Manukau.
The Barrowcliffe Bridge and Place Enhancement project is a significant project within the Manukau area. Manukau has been identified by Panuku Development Auckland as a Transform location; a location that can meet its significant future potential through an integrated, holistic and custodial approach to regeneration.
The project will deliver a safe and inviting connection from the residential suburbs in the south to central Manukau. Active transport modes of walking and cycling are prioritised, hand-in-hand with expressing the culture and spirit of the Manukau community.
The project will contribute to the creation of green corridors that will foster active transport modes and wider social integration. Barrowcliffe Bridge and Place plays a vital future connection linking these areas to the Manukau centre with a focus on providing legible local connections to the community.
Boffa Miskell have acted as the lead design consultants during the design phases and continue to be involved in a technical observation basis during construction. The project is due to be completed mid-2021.
Boffa Miskell led the multi-disciplinary design consultant team from investigation and concept design, through to the detailed design completion; including the resource consent application.
