Providing a unique and strong sense of place
Boffa Miskell was engaged to work closely with Athfield Architects and Massey University on a campus- wide development plan for the Wellington Campus. The coordinated campus-wide vision provided a unique and strong sense of place for the whole campus.
This vision covers both the site wide relationships with the city environment as well as reinforcing faculty precincts within the campus. The campus is situated on an important headland landscape close to the city. The body of work included establishing a circulation and vegetation framework to meet campus needs for the next decade.
Design Guidelines included in the Development Plan cover Building design; Circulation and Movement design; Open Space design; and Environment and Ecology design. Landscape objectives, opportunities and strategies are outlined to give direction to future development of exterior spaces and to assist Massey University in delivering a coordinated and cohesive campus environment.
The first stage of development includes the College of Creative Arts (CoCA) Building and Precinct. The overarching principles established within the Campus Development Plan have been incorporated and utilised in the development of the design for the CoCA Precinct.
