Helping to bring a much-needed swimming pool facility to the community
Boffa Miskell assisted the Dunedin City Council by preparing masterplan options for the location of a new swimming pool in Mosgiel. The proposed facility will replace an existing swimming pool located in the northwest corner of Memorial Park. We reviewed potential locations and existing site values within the Memorial Park and Gardens, as well as the adjoining Peter Johnstone Park.
In preparing masterplan options for where the pool and supporting infrastructure could be located, we assisted the project team and provided information to support public engagement, a designation hearings process and ultimately a council recommendation for the location of the swimming pool within Memorial Park.
The proposed new swimming pool at Mosgiel will be jointly funded by the Dunedin City Council and Taieri Community Facilities Trust. The Trust has worked enthusiastically to raise $4.2 million, in addition to $10.8 million committed by the DCC in their 10 Year Plan.
With a location now selected, detailed design of the new facility can commence, followed by construction which is due to start in 2020.
