Biosecurity

Whakamātaki ao koiora

Delivering expert advice and cutting-edge, research-driven solutions to address biosecurity threats and protect against unwanted species on Crown land, for primary industries, and for private landowners across Aotearoa.

The spread of invasive species is considered the greatest threat to global biosecurity. This spread continues at an exponential rate due to increasing trade, globalisation, and the impacts of climate change. We provide advice on protection against unwanted species on Crown land, for primary industries, and for private landowners across Aotearoa New Zealand. We apply cutting-edge research-driven solutions and extensive experience in managing and delivering complex large-scale biosecurity projects.

Using proven and innovative methodologies, our biosecurity experts develop pest animal and plant management plans, guidelines for new pest control tools, surveillance and monitoring, landscape-scale strategies for terrestrial and aquatic environments, risk assessments and operational delivery plans.

Working with communities and stakeholders, we apply our knowledge and project management skills to enable smooth navigation through local and national regulatory environments. We provide strategic input into resource consent applications, reviews of statutory documents, and preparation of submissions on various local and national legislation.

We are heavily involved in leading the development of emerging and innovative technologies and tools for pest management (including using artificial intelligence, surveillance, traps, toxins, and lures). We have extensive and enduring relationships and networks with Māori (iwi, hapū, whanau) government departments, local and regional councils, local and international research institutes, communities, and contractors.
